Race to Stop Global Warming

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING OUR FIRST ANNUAL SAN FRANCISCO RACE TO STOP GLOBAL WARMING!

RunnerThe Race ended on Sunday August 17, 2003.

August 18, 2003 - 300 runners, walkers, toddlers and crawlers enjoyed one of the most breathtakingly beautiful courses this country has to offer at the 1st annual San Francisco Race to Stop Global Warming. The sun was shining and the Golden Gate Bridge was visible as were dozens and dozens of yachts sailing along the waters in the bay.

Race Chair and Rainforest Action Network founder, Randy Hayes not only spoke about the challenges and solutions to global warming, but also walked the course with his wife.

Runner"Congratulations on Sundays Race, it was very nice, probably the most enjoyable race I have ever done," said one racer. "Look forward to doing it again next year."

Finally, when racers crossed the finish line they had the opportunity to enjoy food and beverages from Stonyfield Farm, Vitamin Water, Odwalla, Nature's Path Foods and others. In addition, there were a number of organizations that are focused on global warming present including Union of Concerned Scientists, Bluewater Network, the City of San Francisco and others.

"It's important to participate in events that promote awareness around the issue of global warming," said Bill Duff, Corporate Manager, Environmental Coordination Office of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. "Vehicles like the low-emission, fuel-efficient Prius hybrid are key to the preservation of our fragile environment."
