THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING OUR SECOND ANNUAL SEATTLE RACE TO STOP GLOBAL WARMING!
Race ended on September 29, 2002.
September 29, 2002 - Nearly 600 runners, walkers, toddlers and crawlers enjoyed
"perfect" running weather - cool and moist conditions - for our second annual
Seattle Race to Stop Global Warming.
Before the race, Seattle City Council member, Heidi Wills, expressed her commitment
toward solving climate change. Heidi then announced the start of the race and,
much to our pleasant surprise, decided to put her feet into action by running
the 8K, too!
Racers enjoyed a USATF certified 8K and 5K road race that wound its way through
the heart of downtown Seattle before entering the express lanes on I-5 and returning
back into downtown Seattle.
Top Five 8K Overall Finishers:
- Glen Morgan, 27:13
- Patrick Judge, 28:18
- Issac Bertschi, 28:31
- Peter Hanson, 28:35
- Paul Curran, 28:44
- Lyuda Vasilyeva, 28:26
- Erika Daligcon, 30:31
- Alicia Heilman, 31:37
- Sandi Halgren, 31:37
- Renah Scay, 33:37
Upon crossing the finish line, racers had the opportunity to enjoy food and
beverages provided by Whole Foods while learning about our sponsors and their
commitment toward stopping global warming. It was a perfect event for families
In addition, our free Children's 1K Fun Run and Toddler Trot brought a smile
to all. Although no crawlers were willing to splash their way to the finish line,
two toddlers drew a loud round of applause when they gave it a go.
Congratulations to all who crossed the finish line!
We greatly look forward to seeing you again in 2003.
